The Jigawa state Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has described media reports that he stepped down for immediate past minister of transportation Rotimi Ameachi who is also gunning for the presidency as misrrpresentation.

Governor Badaru said he is still in the race for presidency under the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC)

The governor stated this while fielding questions from newsmen in his office.
According to him,”A report that says (Badaru) dropped his aspiration to stepdown for former minister Rotimi Amechi is misinterpretation. I am still in the race”.

He explained that, he picked the APC Presidential nomination form to join the race to serve the country at the highest level.

He noted that, the media report misinterpreted him, “What exactly I said was there is no contest between me and my friend because we are all children of Baba Buhari”.

“What I mean was that if the former Minister of transport Mr Rotimi Amaechi will run I will not run and if I will run Amaechi will not run”, he emphasized

“So if our father Muhammad Buhari asked me to stepdown for Amechi I will not be hesitant to do so and equally if he asked Ameachi to stepdown for me I’m sure he will do so”

“Therefore I am informing the APC delegates and all party members that I am still in the race for APC Presidential ticket for the 2023 general election” Governor Badaru declared

According to him, having been well known and also interacted with party delegates from across the country at a different occasion he needed not to go round to canvass their support.

“All the delegate know me, they have my track record and they know what I can do, I am not new to them and they are not new to me”

He assured party delegates that, he has all what it takes to make the party sustained power beyond 2023 if given the ticket.
