APC aspirants face disqualification over loss of Party Membership cards in Jigawa

There is apprehension among aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC) who have lost their Party membership cards as they may be disqualified.
Reports from the state indicated that some elected members of the ruling APC seeking re-election in Jigawa state were also among those that were thrown in to confusion over misplaced party’s membership card.

Our correspondent in Dutse reports that many of such aspirants were seen trooping into the party secretariat seeking for ways to get new membership cards ahead of the screening

The APC in the state however said any member aspiring for elective positions that lost or misplaced his/her membership card should contact the state’s party office for an action.

The state secretary of the party (APC), Honourable Muhammed Umar Dakuma who spoke to our reporter via phone interview, said “who ever misplaced his party’s membership card should approach the party secretariat for directives.

Though Dakuma claim he is not aware of aspirants that besieged the party secretariat, he however adviced that they are free to approach the party for advice on steps to take.

Our reporter in the state gathered that among those that lost their membership cards were a big wigs and leaders of the party in the state

A close source to the party’s (APC) state office said the problem facing most of them is that they cannot even remember the serial number on their cards to make re-issuance easy.

Findings by our reporter revealed that the APC stalwarts are jittery as some are aspiring for higher positions for the fear that they may be disqualified from participating in the primary election since the party membership card is one of the necessary credentials to be presented during screening.

It was gathered that the party had advised those affected to approach the court to swear to affidavits to be presented during the screening.
