Forlorn hope for students, as ASUU extends strike by another 3 months

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has dashed the hope of early resumption for students as it has extended the ongoing strike by three months after the initial warning strike expired on Sunday, May 8.

ASUU president Prof Emmanuel Osodeke made the disclosure of the union’s decision on Monday.

The National President in the middle of February this year said the decision to embark on a one month warning strike became necessary because the Federal Government had ignored them and refused to meet their demands.
It is already three months since they embarked on the industrial action after which the federal Government stopped the salaries of the university lecturers.
