A political group under the aegis of Rescue Nigeria Mission, has called on the governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, to contest for the office of Nigeria President in 2023.
The North Central Coordinator of the group, comrade Tauhid Haruna, in his address said that the group from the six states and the Federal Capital Territory in the zone converged in Lafia to call on the Kogi governor to run for the 2023 presidency.
Haruna said the group which comprises youths and women, decided that it was time for a youthful and energetic president to emerge in 2023 in order to tackle the numerous problems confronting the nation.
He however noted that governor Bello has proven by his performance to be competent, energetic, especially in the area of human capital development.
“We are calling on Governor Bello to run for the office of the President because at this stage Nigeria need a youthful leader who is vibrant and has the strength and capacity to take us out of the present situation that we find ourselves.
“We have mobilized over three million youths and women across the North Central zone and we are making efforts to get more people to join us because we believe that Yahaya Bello is the solution to the problems of Nigeria”.
Nasarawa State Coordinator of the group, Musa Nagogo, appealed to youths and women in the state to join the group in order to advocate for a better Nigeria.
He said, “When we were little children, we were told that we are the leaders of tomorrow but uptill today, that tomorrow has not come because the older citizens have refused to give the youths any chance to lead.
“I am calling on all citizens of Nasarawa state and Nigerians in general to join us in this movement for a better country”.
Earlier in his speech, the National Coordinator of Rescue Nigeria Mission, Abdullahi Damat, said it was time for the youths to take over the leadership of the nation in a bid to correct the errors done by the old citizens who have held sway since the year 1999.
He expressed confidence in the quality leadership of Yahaya Bello, saying that, ‘he has the remedy to the many challenges confronting the nation as he appealed to all Nigerians to join the movement in order for him to take the country to greater heights.
“This group was borne out of frustration Nigerians are going through because of leaders failure. We need a young person in 2023 to be our president and that is why we are calling on Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state to run for the office”, he added.
