The unexpected happened in Lokoja on Monday when Kidnappers abducted a bricklayer, Folorunsho Sunday at his residence and later demanded N30m ransom
The question that easily came to mind was where will an ordinary bricklayer’s family raise the N30m.
Folorunsho, who hails from Jege in Yagba East local government area of the state, resides behind Faith Academy along Zango in the state capital.
The usual thinking is that kidnappers will go for wealthy individuals that have the wherewithal to pay the ransom money but in this scenario they swooped on an ordinary bricklayer few minutes after 12 midnight on Monday without prior knowledge of their victim’s status.
His neighbor who stays in same house, Lawrence Adeleye, escaped being kidnapped by the whiskers but not without serious injuries as the kidnappers attacked him with axe and cutlass.
Lawrence, who is a native of Ife-Olukotun, is currently being treated in an undisclosed health facility in Lokoja of the injuries
Sources close to the victims, said the abductors have contacted the victim’s family demanding an initial sum of N30million ransom.
After a long negotiation and disclosing the victim’s status, the abductors told family members that Folorunsho was not their original target.
“They told us they came to kill a man around Zango but missed him but decided they will not return empty handed, hence, they decided to embark on kidnap for ransom.

“After telling them Folorunsho is just a poor bricklayer who is managing to survive, they gave us till Tuesday to pay N100,000 ransom if we want him released,” a colleague bricklayer told our reporter.
Efforts to Contact the Police Public Relations officer, DSP WIlliam Ayah, for confirmation could not yield positive response as his line was not clear but he promised to get back to him.
