Buhari Political Dynasty Expands as Yusuf Clinches APC Reps Ticket

The political influence of the Buhari family in Katsina State appears set for a new chapter as Yusuf Buhari secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yusuf, son of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, won the party’s House of Representatives primary in a landslide, polling 5,849 votes against 21 votes scored by his rival, Hon. Auwal Daura.
The outcome further reinforces the enduring political weight of the Buhari name in Katsina politics, particularly in Daura, the hometown of the former president and one of the APC’s strongest support bases in the North.
Yusuf Buhari had formally declared his interest in the race in April, presenting his ambition as part of a broader desire to contribute to grassroots development and legislative representation in the constituency.
His emergence has already sparked conversations within political circles about the growing prominence of political families in Nigeria’s democratic landscape, especially as preparations gradually gather momentum for the 2027 elections.
With the primary now concluded, Yusuf Buhari is expected to fly the flag of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming House of Representatives election.
