The main challenger in the Daura/Sandamu/Maiadua APC House of Representatives primary, Auwal Lawal Daura, has rejected the outcome of the exercise that produced Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari as the party’s flag bearer, alleging widespread irregularities.
Auwal, who was defeated in the contest, insisted that the process was compromised and not reflective of the will of party delegates. He alleged instances of over-counting of votes, repeated counting of ballots, and what he described as a failure to properly verify the membership credentials of participants in the exercise.
According to him, the conduct of the primary fell short of acceptable internal party standards and undermined confidence in the credibility of the exercise. He therefore called on the national leadership of the APC to urgently intervene, review the process, and address what he described as procedural violations before the matter escalates further.
Auwal maintained that only a transparent review could restore trust among party members and ensure fairness ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC primary in the constituency had earlier returned Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari as winner with a wide margin, a result his camp has defended as valid and in line with party rules.
