***NEC dissolves NWC, to set up caretaker leadership

Leadership crisis has hit the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as 27 of 32 State Chairmen of the party have passed a vote of no confidence on the national chairman chief Rapheal Okey Nwosu who has been holding sway in the last 17 years.

The chairmen at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday signed a communique where they dissolved the National Working Committee (NWC) and resolved to set up a caretaker committee which will be saddled with the mandate to conduct a national convention where national leaders of the party would be elected within one month.

The Kogi State chairman of the Party Kingsley Temitope Ogga who is also the chairman of the Forum of State chairmen of the party said he called for the NEC meeting with the approval outgoing chairman

“The NEC has ruled that the tenure of the NWC has expired and they stand dissolved.”

“What we are asking now is for a caretaker committee to be put in place with a one month period within which a national convention would be conducted.”

According to him, Nwosu has spent 17 years and his current tenure will expire on the 28th of this month

“All the chairmen have passed a vote of no confidence on the national chairman. We don’t want this party to collapse, they rated us as the third force but the way they are handling this party we are no longer to be so reckon

“In Kogi State we have a seating House of Rep member in the person of honorable Leke Abejide, he has been doing well and that is why we were able to conquer Kogi State. In 2023 we will capture more seats

In a swift reaction the embattled National chairman contrary to the position of the Kogi State chairman said the NEC met and resolved that the party cannot afford to have fracas close to election.

“We decided to focus on our campaign, we don’t want any fragmentation so that convention will hold a year after now. The NEC sat and agreed on this, the NEC is made up the NWC members the zonal chairman and all the national officers. We have six different zones with 9 officers each.

“You know we are an emerging party, people are scared of our energy, therefore it is possible that some people are being sponsored”
