Nigeria is at the mercy of terrorists for lacking competent leaders, says Adebayo

The Nigerian Government is at the mercy of bandits and other hoodlums who have held the country to ransom for seven years because it shut itself down, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, (SDP), for 2023 general election Prince Adewole Adebayo, has lashed out.

The SDP Presidential standard bearer made the remarks, after a visit to the President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Reverend Sampson Ayokunle at Royal Choice Hotel, in Abuja.
According to him, “The presidency has been shut down for the past seven years. The government has shut itself down. If we are not careful, the government will become the bandits and the bandits will be arresting the government.
“We need to be serious and do the work. We need our people to pay attention, we need the President to protect us and be the Commander-in-Chief.”

Reacting to the directive on immediate closure of Federal Government Colleges in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, by the Ministry of Education over security threats, Prince Adebayo said, “Before the schools were shut down, the first thing that was shut down was the presidency.”
He expressed dismay that the Government would chicken out each time there is a threat by insurgents prompting it to be taking directives from criminals.
According to him, there is nothing fantastic about Nigeria and her leadership as it has not allowed the fear of God to dwell in it, hence the drift to state of quagmire and anarchy currently plaguing the land.

He indicated that the spate of insecurity in the country showed the insensitive nature of the country’s leadership.
Adebayo insisted that until there is honest and purposeful leadership, the country might just still continue to grapple with almost all the challenges it is presently facing, adding that only the person with capacity and capability can bring the country out of the woods.
“All the problems, the latest of which is banditry and our debt servicing being bigger than our income, because we have leaders who are dishonest
“When we are given authority to exercise, we don’t do it honestly. If we change our ways, God’s blessing will be upon us. There is no mystery about leadership in Nigeria.
“It is just that the right leader must come with the right heart, with the right people,” he added.
In his remarks, the CAN President, Reverend Samson Ayokunle, emphasized on the need to elect the right leader who will make Nigeria work better.
He pointed out that, “There is need to elect the right person who will make Nigeria work better and transform its fortunes for the benefit of all.
“We need as many people as God has touched to contest for the presidency so that people have ample opportunities and choices to choose from.”
