Governor Yahaya Bella of Kogi has called on students of the state Polytechnic to obey the rules and regulations and shun cultism and other vices in all ramifications.
Bello who made the call while on inspection visit to the school at the weekend said all that was required of the students was to be law-abiding, shun cultism and other vices and concentrate on their studies.
He said that so far, under the leadership of the Rector, Dr Salisu Usman Ogbo, the institution had been peaceful, progressive and in good stead academically and in infrastructural development.
The Governor said the Rector’s wonderful job in the Polytechnic did not only make him proud and justified his appointment but had further proven the GYB Standard in all sectors.
He stressed that Ogbo’s performance was a clear reflection that Youths involvement in governance remained one of the best ways to achieve greater results.
“Let me profoundly appreciate our contractor who is doing a marvelous job in this school. He is a local contractor. You no see Oyibo here doing work. All natural local one”, he said.
Governor Bello disclosed that his administration would continue to run an all-inclusive government devoid of tribe, religion and class but with a focus on capacity, ability, commitment and service to the State and humanity.
Bello applauded the students for being lawful, keeping the rules and regulations guiding the school and for ensuring that the campus was free from cultism and cultist activities aside securing themselves.
He appealed and made the students to promise to continue to be law-abiding, ensure that they do not indulge in cultist and to take their studies seriously to ensure that they come out in flying colours at the end.
“I want you to promise me to be law-abiding, ensure that there is no cultism in the school and to ensure that you are going to come out in flying colours at the end of your exams.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to unbroken academic calendar and conducive environment for teaching and learning saying, “In Kogi State, there is no strike and there shall be no strike again.
“So, invite your brothers and sisters, friends and colleagues from across the country to come to Kogi State and study”, he urged.

The projects inspected by the Governor include a storey building Administrative Complex, a storey building for the School of Sciences, a storey building for the School of Environmental Technology and a storey building for the School of Art, Design and Printing.
Others are: a 200-Capacity Twin Lecture Theatre, Computer Based Centre which were all initiated and virtually completed under his administration as well as the renovated students’ hostels, among others. (Ends)
