The political landscape of Kogi East came alive on Wednesday as thousands of supporters, party loyalists, youth groups, women leaders, and stakeholders flooded Anyigba in a massive show of solidarity for Distinguished Senator Isah Jibrin(Echocho), as he formally declared his intention to seek a third term in the Senate.
The declaration ceremony at the APC Secretariat was widely seen by political observers as more than an ordinary political gathering. It was a powerful display of grassroots influence, party strength, and growing momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
From the early hours of the day, supporters from across the nine local government areas of Kogi East trooped into Anyigba chanting solidarity songs and waving banners in support of the senator, creating an atmosphere that reflected confidence in his leadership and political relevance.
Addressing the electrified crowd, Senator Echocho said the decision to seek another term was born out of the need to sustain purposeful representation and continue defending the interests of the people of Kogi East at the National Assembly.
He appreciated the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Deputy Governor Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, APC leaders, traditional stakeholders, youths, women, and supporters for their unwavering loyalty and encouragement throughout his years in office.
According to him, the overwhelming support and confidence shown by the people remain a clear reminder that the task of development and quality representation must continue beyond 2027.
Echocho maintained that his years in the Senate have not only given Kogi East a stronger voice nationally but have also translated into visible projects, empowerment programmes, and interventions across communities in the district.
The senator declared that he remains committed to attracting more opportunities, infrastructural development, and economic empowerment for the people if given another mandate.
In an emotional moment during the event, Senator Echocho singled out YY Okala, the Auditor General, for special recognition, describing him as a silent pillar whose loyalty, strategic support, and commitment have remained invaluable throughout the political journey.
The event soon turned into a celebration of political confidence as stakeholders from different communities openly endorsed the senator for another term, insisting that his popularity, accessibility, and performance have earned him the trust of the electorate.
Several speakers at the gathering noted that Senator Echocho’s influence at the grassroots and his ability to unite political structures across Kogi East place him in a strong position ahead of the 2027 elections.
They argued that beyond politics, the senator has built a lasting connection with ordinary people through consistent engagement, empowerment programmes, and developmental projects that have directly impacted lives across the district.
Observers described the Anyigba gathering as one of the biggest political mobilizations in Kogi East in recent times, with many supporters insisting that the massive turnout was a loud statement that the district remains solidly behind Echocho’s continued representation in the Senate.
