The Obidient Movement has formally redrawn its political map, declaring full alignment with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as its new platform for pursuing reform-driven governance.
The shift comes in the wake of Peter Obi’s exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a move insiders describe as a calculated step toward securing a more stable and credible political vehicle. His subsequent move to the NDC—alongside Rabiu Kwankwaso—is being framed as the foundation of a broader political coalition with national reach.
In a statement issued by its national leadership, the Movement described the transition as both strategic and inevitable, arguing that Nigeria’s current political climate demands cohesion rather than fragmentation. According to the National Coordinator, the moment calls for a unified front under a platform capable of converting widespread public discontent into structured political action and governance outcomes.
Supporters across Nigeria and in the diaspora have been directed to begin immediate registration with the NDC at the ward level, signaling the start of grassroots consolidation. A digital registration system has also been introduced to widen participation and streamline mobilization efforts.
The Movement was quick to stress that the realignment does not signal a departure from its founding ideals. Instead, it framed the decision as an evolution—anchored on accountability, competence, and people-first leadership.
With momentum building around its new alliance, the Obidient Movement urged members to remain focused and united, positioning the shift as a critical step in what it describes as a long-term mission to transform Nigeria’s political and governance landscape.
“The vision remains unchanged,” the statement concluded, “but the vehicle has evolved. A New Nigeria is not just imagined—it is already in motion.”
