Abuja Man Arrested Over Alleged Killing of Mother in N40m Inheritance Dispute

A young man identified as Musa has been arrested in Abuja over the alleged killing of his mother during a dispute linked to a ₦40 million inheritance.
Security sources said the incident occurred earlier in the week after the suspect reportedly demanded access to the funds, claiming he needed the money to travel abroad for business purposes. His mother, Nana, was said to have declined his request, raising concerns about how the money would be used.
The disagreement reportedly escalated, leading to her death.
According to investigation sources, the suspect allegedly failed to immediately report the incident and remained in the residence before his eventual arrest by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
He was reportedly apprehended after actions observed around the home raised suspicion among neighbours and security personnel monitoring the area.
The deceased has since been buried following funeral prayers held at the National Mosque in Abuja, with family members and residents describing the incident as deeply shocking.
Security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on the matter, while investigations are ongoing. The suspect remains in DSS custody as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case.
