The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde has strengthened his 2027 campaign structure with the appointment of former Minister of State for Aviation, Felix Hassan Hyat, as Director-General of the National Campaign Management Committee.
The appointment comes as the Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation moves to expand its nationwide mobilisation and take its “Reset Nigeria” message to voters.
Makinde, who is also the Governor of Oyo State, announced the appointment alongside a number of other senior positions in the campaign organisation in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication, Anthony Ehilebo, on Wednesday.
Hyat, a former Kaduna State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, is expected to coordinate the campaign’s national management structure as the APM intensifies preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
The campaign also appointed former Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Inna Ciroma, as Deputy Director-General, Administration, while Dr Anthony Aziegbemi was named Deputy Director-General, Operations.
The campaign organisation said the appointments were intended to bring together political strategy, administration and mobilisation experience for the national campaign.
Hyat will work with APM National Leader and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, National Chairman Yusuf Mamman Dantalle and other party leaders in coordinating the campaign.
Other appointments include Hamza Akuyam Koshe as Director of Contact and Mobilisation; Mark Jacob, Legal and Compliance; Ade Adeagbo, Administration and Strategy; and Richard Ihediwa, Strategic Communications.
Yusuf Ismaila Alkali was named Director of Finance, while Emmanuel Dennis will oversee Volunteers, Special Interests and Support Groups.
Suleiman Hussaini Kankia was appointed Director of Security and Intelligence, with Toyin Balogun taking charge of Women Coordination and Umar Bida Ndabrama heading Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Documentation.
Armstrong Adah was appointed Director of Youth Coordination, while Adeyemi Moyegun will oversee Organisation and Coordination.
Retired Commissioner of Police Babangida Ayuba John was named Deputy Director, Security and Intelligence.
The campaign said additional appointments would be announced in due course.
The appointments come after the Makinde/Daura campaign began zonal town hall engagements as part of its consultations and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 election.
The campaign has said its “Reset Nigeria” platform will focus on issues including governance, security, economic development, education and accountability.
Makinde and his running mate, former Department of State Services Director-General Lawal Musa Daura, have also begun taking the campaign message to different geopolitical zones, with recent engagements in the North-Central.
