Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed concerns that ongoing political and legal issues could disrupt his plans ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Pidgin, Atiku expressed confidence that his political camp remains on track despite tensions surrounding the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its leadership dispute with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Responding to claims that time constraints could pose a setback, he insisted that such views are misplaced, noting that his team is well positioned to meet all required timelines.
“We have not even started our congresses from the ward level. The matter has been returned to court for resolution,” he said, indicating that internal processes are still in their early stages.
Atiku added that he is optimistic the courts will address the dispute swiftly, potentially before party congresses begin in earnest. He also expressed confidence that the legal process would eventually clarify leadership issues within the ADC.
The remarks come amid ongoing leadership tussles involving a faction linked to Senator David Mark, as competing groups continue to jostle for control of the party.
Despite the uncertainty, Atiku maintained that his camp remains focused and unshaken, projecting confidence that the challenges will be resolved within the electoral timeline.
