Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has appointed Professor Mohammed Suleiman Audu as the 7th Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Prince Abubakar Audu University.
The appointment, announced in a statement by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Uredo Omale, is seen as a strategic move to strengthen institutional governance and reposition the university for greater academic excellence.
Prof. Audu’s selection reflects recognition of his distinguished academic career spanning over two decades in teaching, research and university administration within Nigeria.
A seasoned scholar, he previously served twice as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at Federal University Lokoja, alongside roles as Head of Department, Dean of Student Affairs, and Director of General Studies.
He also brings significant governance experience, having served two terms on the university’s Governing Council during the administration of the late Prof. Francis Idachaba, as well as contributing at the state level as a council member of Kogi State College of Education (Technical).
The university community welcomed the appointment, expressing confidence that Prof. Audu’s leadership will usher in a transformative phase for the institution.
Observers say the move underscores the commitment of the Kogi State government to strengthening higher education and advancing the university’s role as a centre of excellence in teaching, research and innovation.
