Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party Nigeria, has called on Nigerian Muslims to sustain the spirit of Ramadan and channel its lessons toward rebuilding the nation.
In his Eid-el-Fitr message marking the end of Ramadan 1447AH, Obi congratulated the Muslim faithful for successfully completing the month-long fast, describing the period as one of deep spiritual reflection, sacrifice, and devotion.
“I join you with heartfelt joy as we celebrate Eid al-Fitr, a blessed festival that reminds us of the enduring power of faith, discipline, and selflessness,” he said.
He noted that the values demonstrated during Ramadan—charity, humility, patience, and solidarity—must not end with the season but should continue to shape personal conduct and national life.
Speaking against the backdrop of Nigeria’s current realities, Obi said the country is at a critical point requiring collective resolve and unity of purpose.
“In these challenging times marked by hardship, insecurity, and the urgent need for renewal, we must draw strength from the spirit of Eid to stand together as one people,” he stated.
The former Anambra governor urged Nigerians to extend compassion to the vulnerable, promote peace across communities, and reject all forms of division, emphasizing the need for a just, inclusive, and prosperous society.
“Let us work tirelessly for a Nigeria where justice prevails, opportunities are shared, and every citizen has a fair chance to thrive,” he added.
Obi also offered prayers for the nation, asking for divine acceptance of worship, forgiveness, and lasting peace and progress for Nigeria.
“May this Eid bring renewed hope, good health, and abundant blessings to all. Let us continue to build bridges of unity, understanding, and love as one people,” he said.
He concluded by wishing Muslims a joyful and peaceful celebration.
“Eid Mubarak! Eid Sa’id!”
