Eid-el-Fitr: Nenadi Usman Demands Action, Says Nigeria Can’t Afford Business as Usual

Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party(LP) in Nigeria, Nenadi E. Usman, has used the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr to deliver a blunt message to both leaders and citizens: Nigeria must change course—and urgently.
In her Eid message marking the end of Ramadan 1447AH, Usman said the spiritual lessons of the holy month must go beyond rituals, warning that the country’s deepening challenges demand courage, honesty, and decisive action.
“This is not a time for empty speeches or symbolic gestures. Nigerians are facing real hardship, real insecurity, and real uncertainty—and they deserve real leadership,” she said.
She described the current moment as a turning point, insisting that the nation cannot continue on what she called a “dangerous path of excuses and underperformance.”
“We cannot keep doing the same things and expect a different Nigeria. The time has come to confront hard truths, demand accountability, and insist on leadership that delivers,” she stated.
Usman urged Nigerians to reject apathy and fear, calling on citizens to become active participants in shaping the country’s future.
“Silence is no longer an option. Every Nigerian has a role to play in holding leaders accountable and pushing for a system that works for all—not just a select few,” she added.
While acknowledging the resilience of Nigerians, she stressed that hope must now be backed by pressure for change and a collective refusal to accept failure as normal.
“Hope without action will not fix Nigeria. What will fix Nigeria is courage, unity of purpose, and a clear demand for results,” she said.
She called on citizens to use the Eid celebration as a moment of awakening—one that inspires not just personal renewal, but a national reset driven by justice, equity, and responsibility.
“Let this Eid mark a shift—from patience to purpose, from endurance to action. Nigeria must work, and it must work now,” she declared.
Usman concluded by wishing Muslims a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr, while urging Nigerians to unite around a common goal of reclaiming the country’s future.
