In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Forum described the incident—reported to have occurred shortly after Iftar—as shocking and deeply distressing, noting that lives were lost and several others injured.
Chairman of the Forum, Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, conveyed the sympathy of northern lawmakers to the bereaved families and the wider Maiduguri community, assuring them of solidarity during the difficult period.
“We stand with the people of Borno in this moment of grief and pain,” the statement said, adding that efforts would be intensified to restore public confidence and strengthen security.
The Forum also prayed for the repose of the victims and the swift recovery of the injured, while calling on Nigerians to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies working to bring those responsible to justice.
It concluded with prayers for divine mercy upon the deceased and comfort for all those affected by the tragedy.
