HURIWA Gives Tinubu Government 7 Days to Arrest Terrorists Amid Gumi Bombshell

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has delivered a searing ultimatum to the Federal Government, demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of terrorists allegedly known to authorities — warning that failure to act within seven working days will trigger international action.
The demand followed explosive claims by Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi, who publicly stated that the government knows the identities and exact locations of every terrorist operating in the country.
Speaking on DRTV, Gumi revealed that his controversial visits to bandit camps were conducted openly with security agencies present, asserting: “The government knows every terrorist by name and location.”
National Coordinator of the Association Comrade Emmanuel Nnadozie Onwubiko described Gumi’s revelations as “a shocking indictment of state failure,” questioning why armed criminals continue to kidnap schoolchildren, slaughter farmers, attack communities, and destabilise Nigeria despite this alleged intelligence.
“If the Federal Government truly possesses actionable information on terrorists, there is no excuse for the ongoing carnage,” the group said, warning that inaction amounts to complicity. HURIWA also raised serious concerns about Gumi’s freedom, suggesting that authorities’ failure to investigate him lends credibility to his claims.
Citing Nigerian law, including Section 10 of the Terrorism (Prevention) Act and legal precedents such as R v. Sykes and FRN v. Osahon, HURIWA stressed that silence or inaction in the face of known criminal activity may constitute aiding and abetting terrorists.
The organisation made clear that if the government fails to act, it will escalate the matter internationally, filing formal petitions to the International Criminal Court, the United States Congress, and the administration of former President Donald Trump, seeking accountability for what it described as “crimes againstA humanity” resulting from ongoing terrorist attacks.
“The time for excuses is over. If the government knows where these terrorists are, the time for arrests and prosecution is now,” HURIWA declared.
