Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Ridwan Disu, has promised to establish additional operational bases across Kwara State to tackle insecurity and strengthen law enforcement. The pledge came during his first official visit to the state since assuming office.
Disu, who led a tactical team in Kwara last month, spent three weeks assessing and addressing the security challenges in the Astate. At the Kwara State Police Command in Ilorin, he reassured officers and security stakeholders of his commitment to restoring peace and order.
“I know Kwara and its challenges. I am committed to restoring civility and protecting our people,” Disu said.
The IGP lauded residents and police personnel for their cooperation, emphasizing the importance of community support in combating crime:
“The criminals cannot take our land from us. We will defend it together.”
He also expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unwavering support to security agencies and promised to address the challenges faced by police officers, acknowledging the dangers inherent in their work.
“Every day, police officers—including myself—face risks. I will ensure your welfare is prioritised,” he assured.
Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, joined Disu in appealing to traditional institutions to remain actively involved in supporting police operations across the state.
Disu’s visit signaled a renewed drive to strengthen security infrastructure and improve collaboration between the police and communities in Kwara State
