Man Arrested in Oyo State for Killing Brother Over ‘Dream Attack’

A 43-year-old man, Lateef Suleiman, has been arrested in Sepeteri, Oyo State, for allegedly killing his elder brother after claiming he was shot by him in a dream.
Suleiman reportedly woke up convinced that his 52-year-old brother, Mustapha Amidu, had attacked him in his sleep. Instead of shaking off the thought, he allegedly grabbed a heavy rock and struck his brother on the head.
According to Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, Suleiman fled the scene immediately after the attack. Mustapha was rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital but was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
Police from the Ago-Amodu Divisional Headquarters conducted preliminary investigations at both the scene and the hospital before tracking down Suleiman. He has confessed to the act and is cooperating with authorities.
State Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, has transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, promising a “discreet and thorough investigation.” Authorities assured the public that justice will be served in accordance with the law.
