The Buji Local Government Area has disbursed cash grants and food items to vulnerable residents across its 10 political wards as part of efforts to ease economic pressure during the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony held in Gantsa, the council headquarters, the Chairman, Arch. Najeebullah Falalu Tukur, said the intervention was facilitated with the support of Umar Namadi.
According to him, 50 beneficiaries received ₦50,000 each, while another 120 persons were given ₦20,000 each. The beneficiaries were drawn from all 10 wards of the local government area to ensure inclusiveness and fair representation.
“In addition, 500 cartons of spaghetti were distributed to vulnerable residents,” the chairman stated. He added that the food items were also extended to APC executives and select party members through the new leadership of the party in the area for onward distribution.
Falalu described the initiative as a seasonal intervention designed to cushion the economic hardship often experienced by residents during Ramadan, noting that the council remains committed to prioritising the welfare of its people.
Meanwhile, the chairman reaffirmed the council’s resolve to support religious leaders and scholars in fostering moral discipline, unity, and peaceful coexistence within the community.
He gave the assurance while receiving an Islamic scholar deployed to Buji by Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah for this year’s annual Ramadan Tafseer.
Falalu pledged the council’s full cooperation to ensure a successful Tafseer, describing the annual exercise as a vital platform for strengthening peace, unity, and mutual understanding among residents.
