King Charles supports police as former Prince Andrew faces arrest

British monarch King Charles has publicly expressed his support for the police following the arrest of his younger brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, over allegations of misconduct in public office.
In a statement released Thursday, the King said he had learned of the news “with the deepest concern” and emphasized that “the law must take its course.” He added that the authorities “have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation” and that it would be inappropriate for him to comment further while investigations continue.
Andrew’s arrest comes more than six years after his controversial 2019 BBC Newsnight interview at Buckingham Palace, in which he addressed his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The interview sparked public backlash and widespread media scrutiny at the time.
The royal family, the statement said, will continue “in our duty and service to you all” as the legal process unfolds.
