Ramadan: KASPA Calls on Philanthropists to Support 1.7m Vulnerable Kano Residents

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the Kano State Social Protection Agency (KASPA) has appealed to wealthy individuals, corporate organizations, and non-governmental organizations to support over 1.7 million vulnerable persons registered in its database.
The appeal was made by Dr. Fateema Abubakar Abdullahi (Amneef), KASPA’s Director-General, during a management meeting at the agency’s headquarters in Kano. She emphasized that for many families across the state, Ramadan brings additional hardships, as rising costs and poverty make it difficult to meet basic needs such as food and healthcare.

Rabiu Khalil Kura in a statement quoted Dr. Fateema to have called for collective compassion and shared responsibility, urging all stakeholders to join in alleviating the suffering of the poor during this sacred period—a time traditionally dedicated to kindness, generosity, and care for one another.
She commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his strong commitment to social welfare, highlighting the state’s Ramadan feeding programme, which provides relief and hope to thousands of struggling households.
The Director-General also drew attention to ongoing initiatives such as the KASPA/KACHMA free healthcare programme, which currently offers medical support to over 20,000 orphans and senior citizens—many of whom would otherwise be unable to access essential health services.
According to Dr. Fateema, supporting vulnerable citizens during Ramadan is not only an act of charity but also a moral duty, essential to preserving human dignity and protecting the most disadvantaged members of society.
She encouraged individuals and organizations willing to contribute or benefit from KASPA’s programmes to contact the agency for further engagement and collaboration.
Dr. Fateema reaffirmed KASPA’s commitment to strengthening social protection systems and ensuring that no vulnerable citizen is left behind, especially during critical periods such as Ramadan.
