Senator Isah Jibrin (Echocho) has reinforced his focus on grassroots development in Kogi East, empowering youths and artisans while announcing plans to fully rehabilitate the long-abandoned Idah Hotel.
The empowerment programme, which drew beneficiaries from all 41 wards of the Idah Federal Constituency, featured vocational training and financial support aimed at strengthening small businesses and promoting self-reliance. Echocho said the initiative reflects his belief that sustainable development begins with people.
“Our youths and artisans must be equipped to stand on their own,” the senator said, noting that economic empowerment remains a critical tool for reducing unemployment and social vices.
In a related move, Echocho revealed plans to restore Idah Hotel to modern hospitality standards. Once a thriving facility, the hotel has deteriorated over the years. The proposed overhaul will include extensive renovations, improved facilities, and a new management framework designed to revive tourism and create jobs.
Community leaders and beneficiaries applauded the initiatives, describing them as timely interventions with long-term economic benefits. Echocho reassured constituents of his continued commitment to people-centered projects and urged beneficiaries to maximize the opportunities provided.
