Tinubu Returns Home After High-Level Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following his participation in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026 (ADSW 2026), where he led Nigeria’s delegation to one of the world’s foremost climate and clean-energy forums.
The President attended the summit alongside senior ministers and top government officials, according to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The global gathering brought together heads of state, policymakers, investors and development partners to advance discussions on sustainable development, climate resilience and the global energy transition.
A major highlight of Nigeria’s engagement at the summit was the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the United Arab Emirates, a move expected to significantly strengthen economic ties between both countries.
The agreement aims to expand bilateral trade and investment, promote technology transfer and deepen collaboration in key sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, agriculture, mining, manufacturing and emerging green industries, aligning with Nigeria’s economic diversification strategy.
Addressing participants at the summit, President Tinubu announced that Nigeria and the UAE will co-host an INVESTOPIA forum in Lagos in February, an initiative designed to attract global capital, foster innovation and unlock strategic partnerships.
He also unveiled Nigeria’s ambitious climate financing target, stating that the country plans to mobilise up to $30 billion annually for climate action and green industrial development. The funds, he said, will support power sector reforms, expand electricity access, accelerate renewable energy adoption and drive inclusive economic growth.
President Tinubu’s participation at ADSW 2026 underscores Nigeria’s renewed commitment to international cooperation and its determination to leverage global platforms to advance investment-led growth, climate action and sustainable development.
