Since assuming office as Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni has consistently demonstrated that effective policing goes beyond routine law enforcement. Through intelligence-led operations, strategic deployment of personnel, and sustained pressure on criminal elements, he has introduced a proactive approach that is steadily reshaping the security landscape of the Gateway State. One of the clearest expressions of this vision is Operation KOSAYE, a coordinated security initiative designed to dismantle criminal networks, eliminate black spots, and strengthen public safety.

The operation has rapidly emerged as one of the command’s flagship crime-fighting strategies. Rather than focusing solely on arrests, Operation KOSAYE places equal emphasis on thorough investigations, diligent prosecution, and the disruption of criminal structures. This approach reflects CP Ojajuni’s determination to ensure that offenders are brought to justice while preventing criminal groups from regrouping and returning to the streets.

The latest phase of the operation demonstrated this commitment when operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit carried out a coordinated raid on a notorious criminal hideout at Isheri-Olofin along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Acting on credible intelligence, the officers arrested forty-three suspects and recovered suspected hard drugs, mobile phones, ATM cards, power banks, and other exhibits believed to be connected to criminal activities.

Beyond the arrests, the command ensured that the suspects were subjected to due legal process. The forty-three suspects were subsequently charged before the court for offences ranging from criminal conspiracy and unlawful assembly to drug-related offences, prostitution, and operating an unlicensed brothel. With these prosecutions, the total number of suspects charged before the courts since the commencement of Operation KOSAYE has risen to seventy-six, demonstrating that the initiative prioritises both enforcement and accountability.

The impact of CP Ojajuni’s intelligence-driven strategy extends beyond Operation KOSAYE. In another major breakthrough, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit successfully rescued an abducted victim, neutralised two suspected kidnappers during a gun duel, and recovered a firearm, ammunition, a mobile phone, and ₦2.2 million reasonably suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities. The operation further reinforced the command’s resolve to ensure that kidnapping syndicates find no safe haven within Ogun State.

The Command has also sustained pressure on cult-related activities. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), in collaboration with the Isara Area Command and Isara Division, disrupted a suspected cult initiation procession in Isara-Remo, leading to the arrest of thirty suspects. The recovery of vehicles and other exhibits during the operation further highlighted the effectiveness of intelligence gathering and coordinated tactical intervention.

Taken together, these operations reflect a policing strategy built on prevention, swift response, and sustained follow-up investigations. Rather than reacting to crimes after they occur, the Command has increasingly focused on identifying criminal hideouts, dismantling organised networks, and preventing offences before they escalate into greater threats to public safety.

Equally significant is CP Ojajuni’s insistence on professionalism and operational discipline. He has consistently commended officers who distinguish themselves through courage, resilience, and adherence to professional standards while encouraging intelligence-led policing across all tactical units. This leadership style has continued to boost operational effectiveness and public confidence in the command.
The Commissioner has repeatedly maintained that Ogun State will remain hostile terrain for kidnappers, cultists, drug traffickers, and other criminal elements. His warning is backed by visible action, as criminal hideouts, drug joints, cult enclaves, and other identified black spots continue to be targeted through sustained tactical operations under Operation KOSAYE.

While no security architecture is without challenges, the results recorded so far suggest that Operation KOSAYE has become more than a security operation; it has evolved into a symbol of CP Bode Ojajuni’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-led, and community-focused policing. If the current momentum is sustained, residents of Ogun State can look forward to a safer environment where criminality is confronted with professionalism, determination, and the full weight of the law.
