Celebrated poet, journalist, scholar, and author Dr. Tunde Olusunle has been honoured with the Ogo Okun Award 2025, a prestigious recognition reserved for outstanding sons and daughters of Okunland whose work has brought enduring pride to the people and the nation.
The award was presented by the Yeye Oge Ti Ile Okun, initiator of the Ile’Ya Omo Okun Generational Foundation (IOOGF), at a colourful ceremony held in Kabba, Kogi State. Dr. Olusunle was represented at the event by Dr. Stephen Adewumi of the Federal University Lokoja.
A former presidential aide and Fellow of the Association of Nigerian Authors (FANA), Olusunle is widely respected for his role as a teacher of Creative Writing at the University of Abuja and for a literary career that has spanned decades. His works—ranging from compelling poetry to sharp journalistic commentary and rigorous scholarly texts—have left a deep imprint on Nigeria’s intellectual and cultural landscape.
Beyond the page, Olusunle’s consistent commitment to community service, particularly within Okunland, underscores a life devoted not only to letters but also to people.
