The National Forum of Former Legislators (NFFL) has condemned what it described as the circulation of false and malicious reports targeted at the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
In a statement issued on Friday, December 26, 2025, the National Coordinator of the Forum, Rt. Hon. Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe, said the reports were calculated attempts by detractors to discredit the Chief of Staff and create disunity within the All Progressives Congress (APC)–led administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
According to the Forum, certain individuals are deliberately spreading “false, misleading and malicious narratives” with the aim of undermining Gbajabiamila’s integrity and distracting the Presidency from its core responsibilities.
The NFFL said it “strongly and unequivocally condemns the spread of fake news, misinformation and unfounded allegations” against the Chief of Staff, noting that such actions are designed to erode public confidence in the Presidency and weaken effective governance.
The Forum stressed that Gbajabiamila has continued to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, discipline and commitment to national service, adding that his leadership and coordination have been instrumental to the smooth functioning of the Presidency and the advancement of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
It also commended President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in the Chief of Staff, describing the trust as a reflection of the President’s commitment to merit, competence and institutional stability.
“We express our profound appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the confidence reposed in the Chief of Staff. This trust has strengthened stability within the Presidency and reinforced public confidence in the administration,” the statement said.
While acknowledging that the Presidency has already dismissed the reports as baseless and malicious, the Forum warned that the spread of fake news poses a serious threat to national unity, democratic governance and public order.
The NFFL cautioned that freedom of expression must be exercised responsibly and not abused to propagate falsehoods or malign public officials.
It further disclosed plans to petition relevant security agencies to identify and prosecute those behind the dissemination of the fake reports, stressing that such action is necessary to deter future occurrences.
The Forum reaffirmed its confidence in Gbajabiamila, describing him as a worthy ambassador of the NFFL and a key pillar of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu–led administration.
