Christmas: Kogi Assembly Speaker urges patience, tolerance, forgiveness among Christians

SPEAKER of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf has enjoined Christians to imbibe tolerance, perseverance, patience and forgiveness as the basic lessons of Christmas.
The Speaker who made the call in his Christmas Message to the people of the state said these virtues formed the fulcrum of Jesus’ teachings and should be upheld for the good of the state and the country.
In the 2025 Christmas Message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed, and made available to journalists, the Speaker noted that the occasion was a solemn one requiring reflections on the lessons of Jesus’ teachings.
He described Christmas as a period for Christians to come together to celebrate and solemnly remember the birth of Jesus Christ and the need for family and relatives to unite and rejoice with one another for the good of the community.
The Speaker emphasized the need for people of the state to continue to live in peace and harmony saying, “Kogi has a lot to teach other States of the Federation in view of its unique geographical location.”
He urged the people, particularly Christians, to remember the state in their prayers, noting that the place of prayer for divine intervention in the development of the state cannot be over emphasized.
Speaker Yusuf pledged the commitment of the current 8th Assembly in the State, to legislate policies and laws that would advance development in the state.
He reiterated the legislators’ preparedness to continue to collaborate with the state Executive in the onerous task to move the state forward for the benefit of the people.
Rt Hon. Yusuf urged citizens to sustain their support for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in his relentless efforts to develop and transform the entire state in all sectors. (Ends)
