Akpoti-Uduaghan Distributes 2,000 Bags of Rice to Kogi Central Residents

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has distributed over 2,000 bags of 25-kilogramme rice to residents across the district’s five local government areas as part of her Christmas palliative outreach.
The exercise, held on Tuesday, covered Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okene, Okehi, and Ogori-Magongo LGAs, aiming to ease the impact of rising food prices on households during the festive season.
Speaking during the distribution, the senator said the initiative was meant to support families and vulnerable community members facing economic challenges.
“Christmas is a season of love and shared joy,” she said. “In these times of rising living costs, leadership must respond in practical ways that directly improve lives.”
Beneficiaries included women and youth groups, religious organisations, community associations, the elderly, and other vulnerable residents. Community leaders supervising the exercise described it as one of the largest Christmas rice interventions in the area, highlighting its broad reach and inclusiveness.
In Okene, a traditional ruler commended the senator for demonstrating genuine concern for grassroots welfare, while youth representatives in Adavi praised the outreach for transcending party lines.
Residents said the distribution further showcased Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s commitment to constituency engagement. The rice outreach adds to her ongoing interventions in Kogi Central, which include projects in healthcare, education, water supply, solar-powered infrastructure, and women and youth empowerment.
Addressing beneficiaries in Okehi, the senator reiterated that representation extends beyond legislative duties, emphasizing responsiveness to the needs of constituents.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the timely gesture, describing it as compassionate and supportive, and offered prayers for the senator.
