Katsina Tragedy: Entire Family of Five Killed in Midnight House Fire

A devastating midnight fire has wiped out an entire family of five in the Kofar Sauri area of Katsina metropolis, leaving residents in shock and mourning.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, claimed the lives of a father, mother, and their three children. By the time neighbours noticed the inferno, the house had already been engulfed, with most valuables burnt beyond recognition.
Sources in the community believe the fire may have been triggered by a sudden power surge following the restoration of electricity.
“There was an unusual electricity surge when power came back. That’s likely what caused the fire,” a resident said, noting that the area often receives high-voltage electricity late at night.
Others pointed to the intensifying harmattan conditions, which have recently contributed to several fire outbreaks across the state.
“The cold and strong harmattan winds make fires spread very quickly. This is not the first incident,” another resident explained.
However, some community members are urging authorities to investigate the possibility of foul play to rule out sabotage.
The remains of the victims have been evacuated to a hospital and are expected to be buried later on Monday according to Islamic rites.
As of press time, police and both state and federal fire services had not issued an official statement on the tragedy.
