People’s Mandate Group tackles Wike, Police Over PDP Secretariat Attack

The People’s Mandate Group has condemned the violent attack on the PDP national headquarters at Wadata Plaza, accusing former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his collaborators of orchestrating the assault with the backing of compromised police officers.
The group described the attack as a pre-planned operation aimed at disrupting the newly elected National Working Committee, intimidating party members, and undermining Nigeria’s democratic processes ahead of the 2027 elections.
Eyewitnesses said heavily armed police blocked access to the secretariat from the early morning, preventing staff, journalists, and supporters from entering. As crowds gathered for the Committee’s inaugural meeting, police reportedly fired tear gas and live ammunition at peaceful citizens.
Tensions peaked around 10:00 AM when the convoys of Governors Seyi Makinde, Bala Mohammed, and PDP National Chairman Kabiru Tanimu Turaki SAN arrived, only to confront thugs allegedly mobilized by expelled former National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who had barricaded the gates.
Multiple sources confirmed that Wike was present on-site, supervising the operation from his vehicle and directing both thugs and police throughout the assault.
Spokesperson Abdulfatai Diran described the events as an “unprecedented attack on democracy.”
“This was not mere violence; it was a political coup in broad daylight,” Diran said. “Wike personally coordinated the attack, showing a willingness to crush anything that stands in the way of his political ambitions.”
Diran accused the police of acting not as protectors of the law but as enforcers for political interests, highlighting the forced evacuation of PDP staff and reckless firing at peaceful supporters as evidence of a calculated plan to destabilize the party.
The People’s Mandate Group called on the Federal Government to intervene immediately, urging the withdrawal of compromised officers, a full investigation into the attack, and accountability for all involved, regardless of political status.
“Democracy cannot survive when those meant to defend it dismantle it. The government must act before Nigeria slides into lawlessness,” Diran warned.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to protecting democratic institutions and vowed to mobilize Nigerians nationwide to resist any further attempts to undermine the PDP or citizens’ democratic rights.
