APC Chairmen Unite Behind Sankara for 2027 Reps Battle

A major political shift is unfolding in Jigawa as APC Polling Units Chairmen from the Ringim/Taura Federal Constituency have thrown their weight behind Hon. Auwal Dalladi Sankara, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, urging him to run for the House of Representatives in 2027.
Their declaration came during a charged solidarity rally in Taura town, staged to coincide with Governor Umar Namadi’s Government–Citizens Engagement Forum. The forum’s chairman, Malam Ibrahim Sani Majiya, said the endorsement was unanimous and strategic—designed to openly signal their preference to the governor.
According to Sani, the constituency is tired of “representation without results” and now seeks a leader with the capacity to pull in federal projects and deliver meaningful development. He described Sankara as a proven performer whose work as commissioner has earned him the governor’s trust, cabinet-wide respect, and the popular title Jakadan Alkhairi.
He vowed that the group would mobilise every necessary support to convince Sankara to join the race, even if it means directly lobbying Governor Namadi and other party heavyweights.
Also speaking, Sani Shawai from Taura said his group was ready to contribute funds to buy Sankara’s 2027 nomination form, describing their push as a “rescue mission” after years of disappointing representation.
The town hall erupted repeatedly with chants for Sankara. Meanwhile, the sitting Reps member, Hon. Sa’adu Wada Taura, attended the event but kept silent—reportedly to avoid a public backlash.
