The Kogi State Government has announced strict enforcement of its ban on trailer parks across the state beginning October 29, as part of measures to curb criminal activities.
Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, said on Thursday that intelligence reports linked some trailer parks, particularly those in Zariagi and Osara, to criminal hideouts.
“From October 29, the state will begin full enforcement of the ban. Intelligence at our disposal shows that some of these parks harbor criminals who threaten the peace and security of our people. This is a proactive and preventive measure,” Fanwo said.
He added that security agencies have been directed to implement the order without compromise and warned that violators would face the law.
Fanwo also recalled that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo had earlier signed into law a bill restricting daytime movement of articulated trucks and banning heavy-duty vehicles from township roads not designed for their weight.
He urged operators to comply and called on residents to support the government, stressing that “protecting lives and securing communities remain the top priority of Governor Ododo’s administration.”
