Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan-Liman, has called on governments and economies across the globe to embrace entrepreneurship models that are both economically viable and environmentally sustainable.

She warned that the world faces urgent challenges—ranging from climate change and food insecurity to disruptions in technology and labour markets—that require innovative and inclusive approaches to development.

Prof. Liman made the call during the maiden three-day International Conference organised by NSUK’s Department of Entrepreneurship Studies, themed “Innovative Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development: Charting Global Economic Future.”

“Our vision is to equip students and staff with creativity-driven, resilient and inclusive entrepreneurial models that will stand the test of global economic realities,” she said. “We must borrow from global best practices in competitiveness, innovation and community engagement to build sustainable systems.”

Dean, Faculty of Administration, Prof. Abdullahi Zubairu, described the conference as a historic platform for cross-border knowledge exchange. He urged scholars, innovators and policymakers to collaborate for a more inclusive global economy.

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Dr. Vincent Paul, stressed that entrepreneurship must now be seen as a tool for solving complex global challenges, not just profit-making.

Delivering the keynote, Mr. Suleiman Abubakar, Executive Director of Imani Group, commended the conference for redefining entrepreneurship, urging upcoming entrepreneurs to leverage new ideas for stronger business decisions and development outcomes.

In their goodwill messages, the Emir of Keffi, Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa, and the Abaga Toni, Lawrence Ayih, lauded NSUK’s leadership under Prof. Liman and pledged support for the university’s entrepreneurial drive.

The conference, which features exhibitions of entrepreneurial products and research outputs, is expected to end on Friday.
