FG Deepens South-South Economic Ties with Brazil

The Federal Government has intensified efforts to strengthen economic cooperation with Brazil as the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, led Nigeria’s economic delegation to a high-level Business Roundtable hosted by Citi in São Paulo.

The engagement, which held on the sidelines of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s State Visit to Brazil, brought together Nigerian ministers, Brazilian investors, and Citi leadership to explore opportunities for bilateral trade and investment.

In his keynote address, Edun outlined President Tinubu’s economic reform agenda aimed at restoring fiscal sustainability, unlocking private capital, and driving inclusive growth. He emphasized Nigeria’s demographic strength, infrastructure drive, energy transition, and technology adoption as the foundation for long-term prosperity.

The delegation also included the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, who engaged stakeholders on expanding South-South economic cooperation.

“Brazil is a natural partner in this journey,” Edun said, reaffirming government’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for global investors and Nigerian enterprises to thrive.

The Roundtable reflects Nigeria’s determination to advance President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through stronger international partnerships.
