Fuel prices have taken another leap in Abuja and across parts of Nigeria as filling stations adjust pump rates in response to an upward review of ex-depot prices by Dangote Refinery and other petroleum depot owners.
As of Saturday morning, Empire Energy and Ranoil stations in Gwarimpa and nearby areas were selling petrol at ₦935 and ₦970 per litre, respectively—up from ₦905 and ₦900 the night before.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Post, Chinedu Ukadike, spokesperson for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), confirmed that the hike was driven by new pricing from major suppliers.
“The supplying depots and Dangote Refinery have increased their ex-depot petrol prices,” Ukadike stated.
According to him, Dangote Refinery now sells at ₦858 per litre (up from ₦820), while other depots have set new prices as follows: NIPCO: ₦870, Aiteo: ₦855 and Ranoil: ₦855
Ukadike explained that the changes were largely influenced by fluctuations in the naira-dollar exchange rate and international crude oil prices.
Despite the surge, a few major marketers—NNPC Retail, MRS, Optima, and AP Ardova—have so far maintained prices between ₦885 and ₦890 per litre in parts of Abuja.
This latest spike adds to the mounting pressure on households and businesses already grappling with high inflation and economic uncertainty.
