With anticipation mounting across the nation’s education sector, Nasarawa State is gearing up to host the 5th edition of the Federal Education Sector Games (FEDUGAM), set to take place in Lafia from August 4 to 10, 2025.

The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, assured of the state’s readiness to deliver a world-class sporting experience as he received a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja. The team was in Lafia to inspect facilities and evaluate ongoing preparations for the highly anticipated national event.

“Hosting this event again is a privilege and a testament to our track record,” Yakubu said, referring to Nasarawa’s successful hosting of the 2017 edition. He pledged the full backing of the state government, noting that Governor Abdullahi Sule remains committed to creating a vibrant atmosphere for sports and youth development.

A statement by Eche Amos, Head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, confirmed the state’s readiness, highlighting its commitment to providing a secure, inclusive, and dynamic environment for all participating athletes and officials.

The visiting team, led by FEDUGAM Consultant Chief Okeyinka Matthew and his Technical Assistant, Comrade Anthony Okoro, said their mission was to assess the logistics and fine-tune arrangements for the week-long tournament. They expressed satisfaction with the pace of preparation and commended the state for its proactive approach.

As part of the visit, souvenir kits were presented to the Commissioner and other top ministry officials, including the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, symbolizing the official endorsement of Nasarawa as the host state.

The 2025 FEDUGAM games will see 15 federal education agencies compete in various sporting categories, promoting unity, wellness, and camaraderie among staff across the country.

The last edition of the games was hosted by Bauchi State in 2024, drawing widespread acclaim for its organization and competitive spirit.

With just weeks to go, all eyes are on Lafia — ready to welcome the nation’s best and brightest from the education sector to a celebration of sportsmanship, talent, and unity.
