The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a violent armed robbery attack in Katoge Village, located in Kazaure Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest, which followed a coordinated early morning operation on Thursday, was the result of a joint effort involving the Kazaure Divisional Police Headquarters, Operation Salama, local vigilantes, and the community’s neighbourhood watch. The suspects were captured around 4:00 a.m., shortly after they allegedly stormed multiple homes in the village, robbing residents of valuable property.
Speaking on the incident, the Command’s spokesperson, Shi’isu Adam, said the operation was based on credible intelligence. “Officers acted swiftly and intercepted the suspects while they were attempting to escape with stolen items,” he noted.
Recovered from the suspects were several stolen items, including: A locally made Dane gun, Local ammunition, A motorcycle suspected to be stolen, A mattress, a power bank, and two sheep and the sum of ₦50,000 in cash.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects collaborated to invade three homes in Katoge Quarters, where they forcibly dispossessed residents of their personal belongings. Adam confirmed that no fatalities were recorded, attributing the calm outcome to the quick response of security personnel.
“The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation,” he added. “They will be formally charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.”
The Police Command commended its officers and local collaborators for the successful operation and urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security efforts through timely and accurate information sharing.
This incident highlights the importance of community policing and inter-agency coordination in combating rural crime and ensuring public safety in Jigawa State.
