The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 31-year-old man, Joshua Osaigbovo, in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Osato Festus Edogiaweria, who was declared missing by her mother on April 25, 2025.

According to the police, Osato left home on April 20 with a friend and was never heard from again. The case, initially reported at Aduwawa Division, was transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department for thorough investigation.
    Police Public Relations Officer
Edo State Command, CSP Moses Joel Yamu in a statement explained that acting on intelligence and through painstaking work by the Family Unit, operatives apprehended Osaigbovo in Iyanomon community, Ikpoba-Okha LGA, on June 18.
He confessed to inviting the deceased to his residence on April 27, where a disagreement escalated into a fatal fight. He claimed she fell, hit her head, and died.

In an effort to conceal the crime, the suspect transported Osato’s body in a wheelbarrow to a nearby bush and buried her in a shallow grave.

On June 20, the suspect led police operatives to the burial site where the remains were exhumed after due procedures. The police have confirmed that Osaigbovo will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
