The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has said bold land reforms are essential to unlocking the full potential of Nigerian cities, creating jobs, increasing revenue, and attracting private investment.
He made the statement in Abuja while receiving a delegation from the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), led by its African Regional Director, Mr. Mathias Spaliviero.
Director of Information and Public Relations, Mohammed Manga in a statement explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration on sustainable urban development and land policy reforms in Nigeria.
According to the statement, the meeting spotlighted the critical role of land titling, documentation, and spatial planning in driving infrastructure development and improving access to finance in housing, agriculture, and logistics.
UN-Habitat welcomed the government’s commitment to accelerating the Nigeria Land Titling and Documentation Programme, which is expected to enhance land security, grow the tax base, and stimulate real estate investment across the country.
