Kogi State has claimed a top spot on Nigeria’s national ethics chart, with the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation (CESVO) naming the state one of the most ethically compliant under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

In a symbolic nod to this achievement, Hon. Ismaila Isah, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, was honoured with the prestigious Ethics and Integrity Ambassador Award for his exemplary service, professionalism, and ethical standards in public communication.

The award was presented during a ceremony commemorating the International Day of Conscience, following CESVO’s independent 14-month undercover assessment across Nigeria’s 36 states.
Executive Director of CESVO, Prince Salih Musa Yakubu, said Hon. Ismaila stood out among 200 sub-national public officials recommended by whistleblowers for his emotional intelligence, dedication to public service, and strict adherence to professional ethics.

“His office is not only functional—it is a national model,” said Prince Yakubu. “The performance and ethical management of the Media Adviser’s office place it among the top three in Nigeria.”

In response, Hon. Ismaila expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for fostering a culture of transparency and professionalism.
“This award belongs to the Governor who leads by example. I remain committed to upholding the highest standards in public communication,” he said.

Three members of the Government House Media Centre—Evelyn Oyiza Yusuff, Shamsudeen Sarki, and Rufai Aliyu Omeiza—were also recognised for their behind-the-scenes dedication and professionalism.

The recognition reaffirmed Kogi State’s growing reputation for transparent and ethical governance, setting a high bar for others across the country.
