Members of the National Assembly (NASS) from Jigawa State have thrown their weight behind Governor Malam Umar Namadi, endorsing him for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking at a Citizens and Government Engagement Programme held in Birniwa Local Government Area, Senator Abdulhamid Ahmed representing Jigawa North East Senatorial District, declared that “there is no vacancy in the governorship seat come 2027.”
Governor Namadi, who assumed office in 2023 under the All Progressives Congress (APC), is currently serving his first term. Senator Ahmed, who also chairs the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, praised the governor’s performance, describing it as impactful and effective across both urban and rural communities.
“The governor has done remarkably well in his first two years,” Ahmed said.
“His leadership has brought visible development—through both human capital investments and infrastructure across Jigawa State. For this, he deserves to continue into a second term.”
The endorsement reflects a growing consensus among Jigawa’s APC stakeholders, with Senator Ahmed urging fellow politicians to rally behind Namadi’s re-election bid.
The show of unity is expected to influence internal party politics as 2027 approaches.
Highlighting his own achievements, the senator reported completing 63 constituency projects across eight local governments in Jigawa North East.
These include the provision of utility vehicles for security agencies, solar-powered street lights, water stations, and various empowerment programmes targeted at youth and women.
“In just two years, we’ve made significant progress. Many youths have been empowered, and several have secured federal jobs, especially in security agencies,” he added.
Senator Ahmed pledged to continue delivering democratic dividends, reaffirming his commitment to grassroots development and effective representation.
