Chairman of Bwari Area Council in the FCT, Mr John Gabaya, has reassured residents of continuous collaborative efforts to enhance security in the area.

He emphasised that the six area councils would work relentlessly to tackle insecurity across various districts in the FCT.

The chairman made these remarks on Wednesday during his opening address at the inauguration of the renovated Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Divisional Headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.

He called on fellow council chairmen across the FCT to prioritise and improve security infrastructure to provide officers with a conducive working environment.

Gabaya also assured security personnel of the councils’ full support to ensure smooth operations.

“With this type of support, the challenges of insecurity will be addressed.

“If officers have suitable offices, mobility, and other necessary incentives, we will definitely succeed,” he said.

He further mentioned that the six council chairmen had committed to supporting all relevant stakeholders to end insecurity in the FCT and were fully ready to take action.

Gabaya highlighted that the renovation of the NSCDC office would strengthen the Corps’ operations and enhance service delivery.

He noted that providing officers with suitable office accommodation was integral to ensuring a secure community, which was why the councils were committed to the project.

He explained that the renovation was a long-overdue acknowledgment of the Corps’ notable service to the council, as the structure had not been renovated in over 20 years.

Gabaya also expressed his appreciation for the work done by the NSCDC, Police, Army, and DSS, urging them to stay resolute in the fight against insecurity.

The chairman also appealed to the Corps to provide job opportunities for indigenous youths of the FCT as part of giving back to the community.

In his goodwill message, the Etsu Bwari, Mr Ibrahim Yaro, lauded the chairman’s efforts in improving the area’s infrastructure, including road rehabilitation and the repair of dilapidated office buildings.

He expressed support for the ongoing fight against insecurity and commended the synergy between the security operatives and the council administration.

The NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, directed the FCT command to immediately provide a new Hilux vehicle to the district office to ease mobility for officers.

He assured the council of continued support from the Corps and promised to address any challenges raised by the chairman.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was attended by officers of various security agencies, traditional rulers, staff from the council secretariat, political appointees, and others
