In a concerted effort to enhance agricultural production and fortify food security, Nigeria and Belgium are deepening their economic collaboration.
Recent high-level discussions have underscored a mutual commitment to leveraging agricultural potential for sustainable development.

During a recent meeting in Abuja, Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, engaged with Belgian Ambassador Pieter Leenknegt and Director of Information and Public Relations, Mohammed Manga in a statement indicated that the dialogue focused on bolstering economic cooperation, particularly in agriculture and food security.
Minister Edun highlighted Nigeria’s improving economic indicators, including declining inflation and stabilizing prices, and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to supporting farmers through favorable policies aimed at boosting agricultural productivity.

Ambassador Leenknegt on his part, expressed Belgium’s keen interest in deepening economic relations with Nigeria, emphasizing the shared goal of achieving mutual prosperity through enhanced collaboration in the agricultural sector.

This partnership aligns with Nigeria’s broader economic reforms and Belgium’s strategic interest in investing in Africa’s agricultural sector.
Both nations are optimistic that this strengthened alliance will lead to increased trade, improved food security, and sustainable economic growth.
