The Obidient Movement has strongly denied allegations made by former Osun State Governor, Bisi Akande, that it orchestrated the EndSARS protests to prevent Bola Ahmed Tinubu from becoming President.

In a statement signed by Dr. Tanko Yunusa, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, the group described Akande’s remarks as false, revisionist, and an insult to the memory of Nigerians who lost their lives during the protests.

The movement emphasized that EndSARS was a nationwide, youth-led protest against police brutality and extrajudicial killings, not a politically motivated agenda.

“EndSARS was not about any individual’s presidential ambition but a call for justice, accountability, and the end of police violence. It is misleading and dishonest to link it to the Obidient Movement, which emerged years later,” the statement read.

The group condemned any attempt to rewrite history, accusing Akande of trying to shift blame for the government’s failures onto the movement.

The Obidient Movement urged Akande and his associates to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges, including, Economic hardship, Insecurity, Unemploymentand Bad governance

“Nigerians are suffering. No amount of misinformation will change the fact that millions are struggling under poor governance. Instead of distorting history, leaders should focus on solutions,” the statement added.

The movement reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for integrity, accountability, and good governance, stressing that false accusations will not deter its mission.
