In a strategic move to strengthen collaboration, Hajiya Hauwa Umar Aliyu, the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) Commissioner for Jigawa State, recently held a closed-door meeting with the state’s 27 newly appointed local government chairmen.
The session, hosted at the Ministry for Local Government’s conference room, also included senior ministry officials and the chairman of the state’s Board of Internal Revenue.

After the meeting, Hajiya Hauwa explained that her visit aimed to establish a foundation of mutual understanding with the newly elected leaders. “I am here to meet with our local government chairmen, establish rapport, and discuss how we can work together to advance Jigawa’s development,” she shared.

Hajiya Hauwa further elaborated on her role in RMAFC, emphasizing her commitment to advocating for Jigawa’s local councils at both the state and federal levels.
“As their representative in Abuja, my role involves providing support and guidance to our councils on issues that impact revenue mobilization and fiscal policies,” she said.
“I want them to know they can reach out whenever they need assistance or advice.”

She clarified that the visit was informal and unrelated to the federal government’s policies on financial autonomy or direct allocation of federal funds to local governments. “This meeting is simply to connect, discuss our shared goals, and foster teamwork for the benefit of Jigawa’s communities,” she explained.

During the discussion, Hajiya Hauwa also introduced the local government leaders to the work of the RMAFC, providing insight into the commission’s functions and addressing any questions they had regarding its operations.
