In the festive mood of the season of celebrations, Abuja, the Federal Capital City of Nigeria came alive on Friday when the Senator representing Kogi East, Jibrin Isah (Echocho) gave his daughter, Fatima Isah out in wedlock to Idris Akanbi.

Maha Event Centre, at the heart of the FCT, venue of the traditional wedding became a melting pot for two Nigerian cultures; the rich Igala and Yoruba cultures.
The harmony with which the two cultures interchanged with live bands that gave renditions in turns at the colourful event showcased how inter cultural marriages can be source of unity for the country.

The first live band that rendered melodious tunes mainly in Igala language, praise sang senator Echocho, thanking God for giving him to Kogi East (Igala kingdom) as the Senator representing the district.

The live band ushered Echocho and his beautiful wife, Hajia Aishat in with standing ovation from guests and family members.

“Echocho”, literally translated man of the people or someone with large followers, like the pouring of rain, lived up to that name as guests trooped in from all walks of life.

The traditional wedding between Fatima Isah, an Igala damsel and Engr Idris Akanbi of Ibadan on Friday December 29 also showcased
marriage with a senatorial touch as the bride and the groom both hailed from distinguished backgrounds of Senators Jibrin Isah (a.k.a Echocho), ranking senator currently representing Kogi East Senatorial District and Soji Akanbi who represented Oyo South Senatorial District in the 8th Senate.
After Echocho and wife, the bride’s parents were ushered in to the palatial Maha Event Center, it was now the turn of the groom’s family, Senator Akambi and wife Mrs Zhikra A. Aduke to be ushered in to pay Homage to their Inlaws.
The live Band of the Yoruba culture also rendered melodious tunes to Usher in the Akambis.

Akanbi was full of joy as he with his wife celebrated the union of his firstborn, Idris, with his longtime sweetheart, Fatimah Isah.

Idris Akanbi, a UK-trained civil engineer was finally joined in wedlock with Fatima Isah, a chartered accountant and the lovely daughter of Echocho.

With the traditional ceremony accomplished on Friday December 29, families and friends await the Nikkah and reception party on December 30, 2023 at the National Mosque, Abuja.
